Yoga and Vedic Practices for Psychedelic Journey Preparation and Integration
A Talk by Joël Brierre , Kamya Buch , Jon Quest and Daniel Shankin
About this Talk
Psychedelic and expanded states of consciousness have been explored by ancient civilizations for many thousands of years. The ancient Vedic systems which are still in practice today offer us many tools and frameworks to both prepare for the intensity of an entheogenic medicine journey and to help assimilate and integrate the experiences. In the system of Yōg, also known as union, we integrate the mind, body and spirit with holistic methods. The experiences we have are all tied to the flow of prāna or cosmic life force energy through our system. The practice of pranayām, or discipline over the life force energy helps us to prepare the energy system to enter altered states of consciousness, to navigate these states and provide us with inner balance and integration.
